CPD Continuing Professional Development
NAMMT actively encourages all members to plan their future continuing professional development (CPD). In fact it is a requirement that members commit to a minimum of 20 hours CPD. NAMMT is happy to discuss personal choices, offer realistic advice to members on courses and help plan programmes with individual members.
NAMMT cooperates with several other bodies and institutes to help provide opportunities for its members including:
-
The Northern Institute of Massage (NIM)
-
The Society of Sports Therapists
-
MLD-UK and the Vodder Schule (Austria)
-
The Forest Fitness Centre, (Cinderford, Gloucestershire)
-
Bodywork Injury Clinic (Londonderry)
-
The Irish Institute of Physical Therapies (Cork)
Recording your CPD
Applications for membership (and annual renewals) of NAMMT must be accompanied by a notification of CPD hours and activity undertaken in the previous 12 months. You will be sent a CPD Notification Form along with your membership renewal application. You should complete both forms and submit them to the membership secretary.

CNHC is the UK regulator for complementary healthcare
practitioners.
Its key function is to enhance public protection by
setting standards for registration with CNHC. The CNHC quality mark is
being recognised as the hallmark of quality for the sector. This means that the
general public, and those who commission the services of complementary
healthcare practitioners, will be able to choose with confidence by looking for
the CNHC quality mark.
The Department of Health in November 2009 stated:
"CNHC is the only voluntary regulatory body for complementary
healthcare which has official government backing. No other
organisation has the same exacting criteria or focus on safety and
quality."
CNHC Registration
The National Assopciation of Massage and Matipulative Therapists has been approved by
the CNHC to verify applications for registration and we do encourage members to
register in order to gain the quality mark. All members who trained through one of our approved/accredited
schools will automatically be eligible to register with CNHC.} To find out
more about the CNHC go to: www.cnhc.org.uk

Note:
- Agreement has been reached with Professional Associations (PAs) which are members of the professional forum for their discipline/s that they will verify applications for registration on behalf of CNHC. The application fees of £15 and £25 are therefore no longer applicable (although those PAs which have a special agreement with CNHC will charge a £15 fee for verifying applications for registration for non members).
- An addition fee of £150 per discipline has been agreed for verification of applications for registration from those who do not wish to go through a PA, or those applicants whose qualifications do not meet national occupational standards (NOS) and who wish to submit a full portfolio as evidence that they meet the NOS. The portfolio will then be assessed by a member of the appropriate Profession Specific Board (PSB) or by an independent assessor appointed by the PSB.
The initial registration period is 12 months. An annual renewal fee is due for payment 12 months after the date of initial registration, and the date does not change if the registrant registers and pays for additional disciplines after the initial registration date.
